Who we are

Tallyglass is made by Sebastian Dyer Advisory Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number [number]. Our registered office is [address].

What Tallyglass keeps on your phone

Everything you put into Tallyglass: the drinks, doses, dry days and rough estimates you log, and your settings. It's stored in the app's own space on your iPhone, protected by your phone's passcode and encryption. It isn't sent to us or to anyone else.

You can remove all of it at any time in Settings › Data & privacy › Delete all data.

Things you can switch on

Each of these is off until you choose it, and each can be switched off again in Tallyglass's settings.

iCloud sync

Sync copies your log to the private iCloud database that belongs to your Apple Account, so it comes back on a new phone. Apple stores it under Apple's own privacy policy. We can't see it or get to it. Turning sync off stops syncing. Delete all data removes the iCloud copy too.

Apple Health

Tallyglass can write each drink you log to Health as an alcoholic beverage. It never reads anything from Health. We never use Health data for advertising, and we never share it, because it never reaches us. Delete all data removes the drinks Tallyglass wrote to Health.

Barcode lookups

When you scan a barcode and have allowed lookups, Tallyglass sends the barcode number to Open Food Facts, a free public database run by a non-profit, to find the drink's name, size and strength. Only the barcode is sent, never anything from your log. Like any request over the internet, it also carries your phone's IP address, which Open Food Facts handles under its own privacy policy. The result is kept on your phone.

Camera and microphone

The camera is used only to read barcodes. The microphone is used only while the Say it screen is open, and what you say is turned into text on your iPhone, not on a server. No photos or recordings are kept or sent.

Reminders

Notifications are scheduled on your phone. There's no notification server.

Import

When you import a spreadsheet, Tallyglass reads the file you choose on your phone. It isn't uploaded anywhere.

Reports you share

When you share a report as a PDF or a CSV file, it goes wherever you send it. We never see it.

What we don't do

• We don't have accounts, so we hold no names, emails or passwords.
• We don't use analytics, tracking or advertising, and there's no third-party code in the app that does.
• We don't sell or share personal data. We don't have any to sell.

What Apple tells us

Buying Tallyglass, and any free trial, is handled by Apple. Apple reports sales to us as totals, without your name or details.

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple sends us crash reports and basic usage figures. They don't identify you and don't include your log. You can switch this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

If you email us

We use your email address and message only to reply to you. We keep them as long as it takes to help, then delete them. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law, you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. Because your log never reaches us, for most people there's nothing to ask for. If you've emailed us, write to privacy@[domain] and we'll deal with it.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Age

Tallyglass is for adults aged 18 and over.

This website

This site uses no cookies and no analytics, and its fonts are served from the site itself. Like any web host, ours keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the site running and secure.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what happens to your data, we'll also say so in the app's release notes.
